About the Trust

The former Centre on Montgomery Street
Although the Calton Youth Ministry Trust (the “Trust”) was not incorporated as a company limited by guarantee until 1991, the Trust was working within the Calton community from the 1970s. The Trust was established to support a Christian ministry caring for and advancing the education of, in the main, the youth in the community. For many years the Trust ran a community facility in the Calton Centre at 121 Montgomery Street, Edinburgh. When in 2006 the Centre’s building needed wide ranging and costly repairs, the Centre was closed. The building was sold in 2009.

The Trustees have decided to implement the Trust purposes by distributing the sale proceeds of the building back into the community. The Trustees are making funding available in the form of a grant scheme. The main target group is individual young people and charities working with and for this age group. However, charities working with other members within the community may also apply for grant funding.

Applications are considered twice within the year. Details are available at ‘Applying for a Grant’.
